Program Improvement Instructional Coaches: Nancy Fewins and Jeanne Clements
With the goal of increasing student achievement at our Program Improvement schools, we are working with the administration at each school site to provide staff development, coaching and ongoing support for teachers. Our trainings focus on standards based instruction and the resources we are developing reflect that focus.
Credentialed Reading Specialists and former Reading Specialists with CVUSD, we are Project G.L.A.D. Key trainers, certified trainers in Step Up to Writing and Thinking Maps. Nancy is also a certified key trainer for Write from the Beginning.

Which school has trained the most Project GLAD teachers?
Levi Dickey! Dickey has trained 26 teachers over the past year. Congratulations to the Dickey administration and teaching staff.
Borba is close behind with 17 trained teachers and more scheduled for this year. The Borba staff has found that Project GLAD supports their IB philosophy/training and the Project GLAD strategies work well with their IB units.
We are very excited about the school wide implementation of Project GLAD at both of these schools.

CVUSD developed GLAD strategies

Just click on my name under Group Contacts at the bottom of this page.
Using Edusoft to reinforce Writing Strategies, Reading Comprehension and Literary Response
Have you checked out the Edusoft question bank? To assist our Program Improvement teachers, we've created Edusoft grade level assessments in Writing Strategies, Reading Comprehension, and Literary Response that you can use for practicing CST test-like questions with your students. As we've discussed in our trainings - model, model, model and keep it short and sweet! These are not meant to be big packets of handouts or homework, but scaffolded for success teacher directed lessons.
Go to www.edusoft.com, log in, and you will find them in the Shared Tests section for your grade level.
